Finding Your Subject
Any antique item of interest can be the subject of a study paper. The paper should contain a clear description of the items and sources of information. Pictures may be included if they enhance the paper. One person may produce the paper or it may be a joint effort of the entire chapter.
Upon completing the study paper, you may submit it to the National Quester Board for consideration for publication on the website. Printed hard copies or electronic .pdf copies may be submitted. Please include your complete contact information with your submission.
Many examples of study papers are listed on The Questers website at www.questers1944.org. Click on the Members Only button, then the Resources button, and choose Study Papers. This is a password protected page for members only.
All Questers who submit study papers are deemed to do so for the benefit of The Questers and all its members. Submission of any paper will constitute a non-exclusive assignment to The Questers of any and all rights the author might have under copyright laws. The Questers may reproduce any paper, in all or in part, for members’ research and education.
Questers who have been active members since the paper was written should send two unstapled copies of the study paper to International Headquarters. Do not staple any copies. One copy will then be sent to the International Second Vice President who will acknowledge it when received. After being read and judged by the committee, it will be returned to Headquarters to be filed according to subject in the study paper file and be available to Quester members only. New papers will be listed in The Quester Quarterly at intervals. Authors of commended papers (score 80% or above) will be issued a certificate signed by the International President.
Using Your Research for a Chapter Meeting Program
Assemble as many examples as needed of your subject to clearly demonstrate the use of, the value of and the necessity of the item in daily life. Clear pictures may be substituted for the item. Present your information by any method that is convenient. Old fashioned “Show & Tell” works very well. A field trip to see the actual item is a wonderful way to share your knowledge. Narrated slide shows created from your Study Paper information also work. If possible, create some handouts for your audience to take away. Be prepared to answer questions and discuss your information sources.
