NE State Questers and 2 chapters honored by the DAR
On April 6, 2019 during an Annual Awards Ceremony of The National Society of The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), The Questers chapters La Belle Vue 933 and Corps of Discovery 1504, and the NE State Questers organization, received awards for outstanding service in the area of Historic Preservation. The Major Isaac Sadler - La Belle Vue chapter of the DAR hosted the event at the Grand Lodge in Papillion, NE.
When the awards to The Questers organizations were presented, special recognition was given to the chapters' P&R project, Robert Gilder's Wake Robin sign. The sign on Bellevue Boulevard directed people to the artist's studio and was seen by many people for decades. The Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center in Omaha restored the sign's paintings of robins tending their nest. A grant from NE Questers and fundraising efforts by both chapters provided financially to complete the restoration last year. It is on display at the Sarpy County Museum in Bellevue.
DAR certificates of the awards were presented to the following: Past International President Lorraine Jeffus accepting for La Belle Vue 933, Chapter President Bob Zielinski accepting for Corps of Discovery 1504 and NE State 1VP Laurel Zielinski accepting for NE State Questers.
